Part of DYOR Exhibition at Kunsthalle Zürich

At the DYOR exhibition at Kunsthalle Zürich, the artist engaged with the work A Slice of the Pie by Sebastian Schmieg and Silvio Lorusso, which critiqued the art world's gatekeeping mechanisms and the increasing monetization of access. Their piece invited artists from around the globe to exhibit their work within a large digital pie by purchasing slices online using cryptocurrency. These slices, filled with artworks, were displayed on a 16-square-meter LED wall and live-streamed on the internet. Artists could choose to collaborate or compete by obscuring each other's work, as each purchased slice provided visibility while also carrying the risk of being covered. Daily, the pie was randomly "frozen" and transformed into an NFT, which was subsequently auctioned on the Tezos blockchain. Over the course of 100 days, the artist observed the pie’s evolution—dominated largely by AI-generated cat photos—until, ultimately, she purchased all available slices and turned them black, thereby overshadowing others’ contributions. This intervention was captured in a filmed slice, embodying an analog takeover of this digital medium.
