P007 → Placing Unauthorised Conceptual Art Prohibited, 2024
Acyl print
50 x 30 cm
January 2024 Kuhn successfully inserted an artwork into the MoMA in New York. The piece, hidden in plain sight for at least four months, was displayed in the same room as Richard Serra’s monumental sculptures, blending seamlessly with the museum’s architecture and its numerous safety signs. Inspired by the institutional visual language of rules and restrictions in New York City, Kuhn crafted a sign that humorously declared it prohibited to place unauthorized conceptual art. The sign was accompanied by a nameplate displaying the title identically to the "rule" she had imposed signalling that the sign is an artwork itself.
