Titanic
A motorised finger traces a shape across glass fogged with condensation. The work references the moment from James Cameron's Titanic when Jack and Rose run away after twisting and turning on the dance floor and hide themselves in a vehicle. The windows fog and a hand slides across the glass. "When I was a child I was shocked by the hand slowly sliding across and leaving a trace. I didn't understand what was happening or why the windows got foggy. Moreover, I was worried that Rose got strangled and this was her reaching for help." The motorised finger retraces the shape of the doorframe on which Rose laid and which carried her across the ocean when the Titanic sunk. To this day and countless calculations later it remains unclear: whether Jack could have fit on the doorframe, whether the density of the water made it impossible, whether his sacrifice could have been prevented.
